We need your help to save Footscray Park
Built on the stolen land of the Wurundjeri, Woi Wurrung and Bunurong people of the Kulin Nation in 1911, Footscray park has been an important part of our community for over 100 years. But it is now under threat - Melbourne Victory, the Maribyrnong Council and Victoria University are planning to build a large soccer complex on the grounds of Footscray Park.
The majority of our community are opposed to the plan, but council are determined to make it happen anyway. We need your help to ensure that it’s available to our whole community.
What can you do? Vote to save Footscray Park!
Council voted to reject the plan after 59% of locals opposed it. But Council are still determined to make it happen.
They have now started a sham “community advisory panel” to approve the plan. It’s not designed to represent our diverse community. Most of the panel will be made up of organisations with links to Melbourne Victory. It’s therefore vital that we have as many representatives as possible who care about saving the park for our whole community.
You will get five votes. We are asking you to vote for our candidates, who want to protect our park:
Sharon Schwab
Ming Kalanon
Sara Coward
Rafaela Lopez
Shari Loudon
